If this was recorded before the Blake Lively?NYT bombshell, it was certainly recorded before the Zendaya/Tom Holland news, which was what I was thinking of when you were discussing what would make a culture-breaking broken engagement now.

at first I read this as "Zendaya and Tom Holland have broken up" and I was like NOOOOOO I WAS JUST READING GOSSIP ABOUT HER GIANT WEDDING RING!!! But no, and yes, you are correct on both fronts

Yay! What a pleasure to listen to three of my favourite writers together. I should out Toothy Tile just before you all mentioned him, lol. Ah, the gossip wonder years.

Loved the podcast discussion — it was great to see how gossip is transforming together with the idea of celebrity.

I was so excited to hear a Hot Ones shout out! I'm at the absolute tail end of what can be considered a "millennial" so I YouTube is a major part of my "celebrity" news. It boggled my mind when you said you struggle with 4 minute YouTube videos! My partner and I got rid of Netflix finally a few months ago because YouTube is our primary streaming platform. Video interviews of celebrities like Hot Ones or the Google autofill, "answers questions while holding puppies," or various celebrities making appearances on popular YouTube or Twitch channels are cornerstones of celebrity media for me along with long-form (hour plus) video breakdowns of celebrity or pop culture gossip. I'm actually much more likely to watch something like that (or listen to an audio version) than I am to read a long written interview. And I am a huge reader for pleasure!

Super interesting discussion!
